One of the reasons for Supertrams initial poor performance was competition from deregulated bus services. The city's main bus company, Sheffield Mainline (formerly the local-authority-run South Yorkshire Transport) is now part of the First bus group, while rivals Stagecoach have taken over operation of the tram services
