Thornton Gate has a 'station' building, which houses staff accomodation. There is also a third track here, on the northern approach to the stop, which can be used by trams terminating from either direction. There is a set of former permenant way sidings here, just to the north of the tram stop, which are disused. There was a proposal by the Lancastrian Transport Trust to set up a transport heritage centre on the site, but Blackpool Council, who own the tramway infrastructure, were unwilling to release the site for development.
