The single tram track at Birkbeck shares a double-track alignment with National Rail; Birkbeck mainline stations platform is opposite the tram stop platform. There is now pedestrian link at platform level—interchange with mainline trains between Beckenham Junction and London Canon Street/Charing Cross involves walking down the stairs to street level, crossing underneath the railway bridge, and walking up the stairs on the opposite side.
