Old Trafford is on the former Manchester–Altrincham railway line. The stop is next to the Lancashire County Cricket Club ground and close to Manchester United's football ground. Both are known as Old Trafford but in British Rail days the station was named Warwick Road—in turn Trafford Bar Metrolink stop was formerly Old Trafford British Rail station.
