Highbury Vale is on the section of reserved track which parallels the railway line to the terminus at Hucknall. There are two separate island platforms here a short distance apart: 'Mainline' for trams to and from Hucknall; and 'Branch' for trams using the single track section to Phoenix Park.

Highbury Vale Branch platform. The tram in the distance is just about to join the main line to the city. Between the two platforms is a small open space, and on the connecting footpath is a display indicating which platform to go to for the next city tram. On leaving the platform for Phoenix Park, trams join a single track section

Depending on their origin (Hucknall or Phoenix Park), city-bound trams may call at either the Branch or Mainline platform at Highbury Vale. In the open space between the two island platforms is a Passenger Information Display which shows an arrow pointing to the platform for the next Station Street tram
